What gave me more perspective on the Ruger was getting a Springfield Armory 9mm 1911 range officer with 5" barrel, which had lots of early feed problems and seems covered in sharp edges and corners. This weekend, I took the ole' SR1911 for a spin and experienced another double feed problem. I stripped the mag after experiencing the double feed problem and noticed something peculiar about the way the rounds sat in the mag and based on my observation, now believe it is a magazine problem rather than a reloading problem.
